You Can Get It If You Really Want

Invited by my friend Huat Heng as guest blogger to share my own experiences, I decided to pick this title, which is also the name of a song by Jimmy Cliff-You Can Get It If You Really Want. Mainly due to it is a wonderful song and it has inspired me a lot in my life.

I believe that music therapy may be one of the most convenient and effective motivation approach. So here, I recommend the lyrics to you.

You can get it if you really want

But you must try, try and try

Try and try, you'll succeed at last

Persecution you must bear

Win or lose you've got to get your share

Got your mind set on a dream

You can get it, though harder them seem now

You can get it if you really want

But you must try, try and try

Try and try, you'll succeed at last

I know it, listen

Rome was not built in a day

Opposition will come your way

But the hotter the battle you see

It's the sweeter the victory, now

You can get it if you really want

But you must try, try and try

Try and try, you'll succeed at last

You can get it if you really want - I know it

You can get it if you really want - though I show it

You can get it if you really want
So don't give up now

I understand that it is hard to keep our belief when we were 'beaten down' (faced obstacles) more than once in our life. We tried but we failed. Then our confidence begin to shake and we are afraid of 'tomorrow'. We doubted on ourselves and asked, "Was I inferior to others?" It seems there was no end to the darkness.

Can you believe that an outstanding girl who is good at dancing, singing and sports would ever get depressed? In fact, even her friends and teachers couldn’t believe it. Yeah, I don’t believe it either until I experienced it by myself.

I am the girl described above. Everything just started with my high school life with a group of girls, only girls. In their eyes, it is merely a new environment. However, to me, it was the most difficult time in my life. I just can’t fit myself into the environment. Before that, depression is only a word far away in the book or TV shows. But during that time, it came into my life. I couldn’t focus on my study, though I tried to force myself. I couldn’t stop crying. I couldn’t face the life. I was depressed!

I tried to find a way out to get away from the girl school. It seemed so hopeless. Then an opportunity knocked at my door, thank God. I was chosen to be in a one-year exchange student program to U.S.A. However, it was not a happy ending story. The fact is always cruel. The need of expensive fee for the program demolished my dream, my hope and everything!

I returned to the same old days, which were full with tears, fears and insomnia. When I went to bed at night, I just hoped that I needn’t open my eyes again because only the dream was the warmest and sweetest.

I didn't consult any doctor as I understand that I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN HELP MYSELF. At last, after using many approachess such as keeping diary, doing exercises and self-therapy, I managed to conquered myself! The recovery process was not easy, in fact it was a struggle. However, I knew that I just have to face it for a positive change! Because I believe I can get what I really want!

In short, although future is unexpected but you can get it if you really want. Never say impossible before you try it!

Sending Message Out to Universe/God

Most of us do not know how to send the right message to the Universe/God. There are certain methods to send the RIGHT message. I’m sharing my personal experience and the knowledge I’ve gained from various Gurus, yogis, metaphysicians and books.

Often, when we pray, we tend to tell all of our problems and needs. This way, we send mixed messages to the universe/God, thus we get mixed responses. So we have to tune our needs and wants properly in order to send the right message using the right method. Below is one of the techniques:-

Meditation
========
This method is a powerful ancient techniques used by yogis, gurus and masters of the spiritual world to transcend to higher consciousness and enlightment

But first, you must write down what you want .You have to include the criteria below .You have to think the end result of your needs

1. Request
2. Safe guard
3 .Express gratitude

For example: - If you want a car

I am owner of a new BMW 5 series.
It came to me in a peaceful and safe way. With divine will and free will of all concerned. I thank god/universe for this gift. So be it.

The first step to practice meditation is by controlling our breathing. This is to calm ourselves and stabilize our energy flow to the body.

The guide:-

1. Find a quiet place in your house. Prayer room is the best. In your prayer altar, lit a candle/oil lamp, incense sticks, place flowers to the god’s picture according to your belief, it can be Lord Shiva/ Krishna or any other Hindu deities/ Makkah/ Jesus/ Buddha/ Gurus while you perform the meditation. Sit in a relaxed and comfortable position, your spine should be straight and your head in alignment with your body.

2. Take some deep breaths. Inhale through your nostrils, as it enters your nose, and feel as though the air is flowing in your stomach and then it is expelled. Just relax into this quiet moment.

3. Say this affirmation in your heart “I’m fully relaxed and I’m protected by God’s light.” Feel a white light around your body covering you in an oval shape.

4. Now focus on your 3rd eye. Your third eye is in the middle of your forehead between your eyebrows. Your 3rd eye governs your psychic vision and intuition. Imagine a deep indigo light whirling with full of brightness.

5. Then say this affirmation in your heart. “I’m now entering my subconscious mind.” Repeat this for 4 times. And finally (the 5th time) say this “I’m now in my subconscious mind.”

6. Now say in your heart the things you wish for. Use the affirmation note you have written down earlier by using the criteria mentioned above (Request, Safe guard, Express gratitude). Say it for 3 times.

7. This is the important part. After the steps above, you have to imagine yourself achieving the result you wanted. For example, if you wanted a BMW 5 series. Imagine yourself driving it, feel emotionally how it is like to drive the car. Imagine yourself driving it happily around for few minutes, then with the joyful feeling, slowly drift to your conscious state and open your eyes slowly.

8. You have sent the message to the God/Universe. Let the candle/ oil lamp burn for sometime until you begin to do something else or going out of your house. Do not BLOW the oil lamp or candle as it will disperse the energy. Just use a flower or anything else to off it gently.

9. Repeat this as many days or for 41 days maximum.

Coincident vs Law of Attraction

In the office, I was working on my task while listening to the MP3 on my Sony Ericsson K550i with the earphone on. It was playing the song 'Beep' by Pussy Cat Dolls.

Then, a MSN message pop-up on my laptop screen. The following were the conversation:

Ming: Do you like Pussy Cat Dolls' song?
Me: Yes. But only 1 song. Do you know Beep?
Ming: Ohh. I am about to send you this song.
Me: I am blasting the song on my phone. Ha Ha, it's such a coincident. Law of Attraction on us is so strong now.
Ming: Is it?
Me: Of course!

That was a real incident just happened on this lovely Monday (not a Blue Monday, definitely, because many great things happen to me). I believe it is just one of the event as a result of Law of Attraction.

Sounds familiar? Do you experience the same too? Please share your experiences.

What Do I Want?

If you asked me to join a marathon 4 months ago, I would have called you crazy! I would have told you I do not have the endurance to go through such distance. I would have told you I'd rather sleep than spend 4 hours pounding stretches of hard and hot roads. I would have told you overweight people cannot run marathons, that it will be too painful. Probably a few more other excuses. That was me before I read about the Law of Attraction, before I discovered the power of harnessing my thinking. That was in December 2007.

Fast forward to January 2008. By this time, I have learnt a little about the Law of Attraction, and I told myself I will be able to run a half marathon if I keep my eye on the prize. I signed up with only one goal - to cross the finishing line. I had 2.5 months to train, and I trained at least once a week to prepare myself for it, and was very confident I could achieve my goal.

On the day of the race, I excitedly made my way to the marathon venue. When I reached the starting point, I saw the huge crowd of participants, and a majority of them were experienced runners. My confidence level suddenly dropped. I started to tell myself it's ok to not finish; I could just stop half way if I can't take it. I started making excuses for myself, my goal to finish the race was completely forgotten. I forgot about the Law of Attraction, I wasn't aware that subconsciously I was changing my goal.

I struggled during the first kilometer. The sight of confident runners around me further pushed my original goal down the drain. Throughout the run, I kept telling myself I will stop after 10km, I was so sure that I won't be able to go more than that.

After running for 8km, I started getting cramps and my left leg went numb. I had to stop at the medical booth at the 10km mark. My energy level was still high, and I could have continued and finished the rest of the 21km run, but because I told myself 10km is enough of an accomplishment, my body stopped at 10km and refused to budge. It took me 140 minutes to reach the 10km mark.

The ambulance brought me back to the starting line. While in the ambulance I thought about the run and why I failed. I realised then that I was concentrating on the wrong goal. I was asking for failure, not success!

2 weekends later, I joined another run. I considered it my redemption run. This time it was a hilly 10km run with stretches of flat road in between, not an easy route. I repeated my goals to myself the whole week; that I will finish the run, and I will finish it in 90 minutes, the average qualifying time for 10km runs.

I visualized myself crossing the finishing line. I visualized myself looking at my watch to find I've done it in 90 minutes. I was aware that just 2 short weeks ago I clocked 140 minutes for 10km, almost an hour more than my goal, but I did not allow this fact to influence me. All I know is I WILL finish the run, and I'll finish it in 90 minutes.

I finished the 10km run. And I finished it in 90 minutes!

It wasn't a miracle, far from it. Physically I was ready for long distance running, but I was mentally blocking my ability. Law of Attraction helped me fail my first marathon, and it helped me pass my second one with flying colors. By recognizing the power of Law of Attraction, I channeled it to get the great result I really wanted. You can achieve results using the Law of Attraction, both positive and negative results. So it's not a question of whether the Law of Attraction works, because it's a law and it will always work.

Therefore, the right question to ask is "What do I want?" Concentrate on what you really want, and then take advantage of the Law of Attraction to achieve it.

My goal now is to finish 10km in 70 minutes in my next run, which is due in 3 weeks. 20 minutes is a lot to shave off, but I KNOW I can do it, because that's what I want!

My Life Crusade

It all started in a sunny afternoon in the year of 2006 while I was helping my parents in spring cleaning (preparation for the Chinese New Year celebration).

Back in my school days in high school, there was some moments I asked myself the following questions:

- "Why am I here (on earth)?"
- "Are we (human) supposed to just being ordinary by undergoing the same cycle of birth, education, career, marriage, family...death?"
- "What do I need to achieve before 'returning' (death)?"

In short, I believe all these led to the one core question of 'What's my life purpose?'

I continue searching for the answer when I step into my higher education in university. I have discussed this openly with a few people. Many have advised me to search for the answer from the perspective of religion. One of my lecturer gave me a Quran while another friend of mine gave me a Bible, hoping to be able to provide me some clues to my search.

I stopped looking for the answer after I step into the career world. Just like many, I was swamped with works and lost focus on the answer I was looking for. Until this day, the day I was shed with an 'answer', from the universe I guess. I was hit with an idea that "I will help 1 million people". Since then, I set that as my life crusade.

As I share my life crusade with many people, I am glad that many has agreed that it's a noble vision and has supported me in achieving it. Many have also asked how do I plan to achieve it and how many people I have helped.

One of the favorable approaches is to share our knowledge and experiences, besides the monetary and charity contribution. Yes, I meant knowledge and experience, in which they are usually unique in nature, especially the background and environment each of us have vary.

As far as I understood, knowledge and experiences are just like our money. If there is no 'transaction'/ flow from one party to another, the value appears to be lower (in the context of money, there is no economy!) With simple and relaxing discussion/sharing session, knowledge and experiences are exchanged, thus enhancing each others' understanding and create awareness on certain areas. At the same time, inspire/motivate them to live a better life!

Personally, I believe "The Secret" is at work that have led me to meet many wise and inspiring people, in which some agreed to be my mentors. Besides, I was also led to many motivating books/audio books, providing me the knowledge I need to achieve my life crusade. I also strongly believe that "Law of Attraction" has fulfilled what I am asking by offering me an opportunity to learn about "The Secret" in one of the discussion session with my mentor- he shared the video with me. Life since then has never been the same.

I would call it a material gains last year as I have attracted many new things, including a new car, a new mobile phone, a new job...etc. Nevertheless, my biggest dream, which is to revisit London (via business trip), came through last year too! I have also acquired a lot of useful knowledge through many books.

However, this year is a totally different awarding year, although the year has just past the first quarter. I would like to call it a year of "self-development" and "action-driven". Many have been said then done the year before, but the direction is changed after my dad's death.

It is also through the change and action-oriented goal, this Syn3rg1sm blog is born, meeting with Michael in person, inspired many people to have a more positive mind set through the sharing of "The Secret" and "Law of Attraction"... etc.

As I was looking at my colleague's 1 million pound cheque (using the one provided by The Secret) on his workstation, I got another idea of the cheque I want.

Rather having the following Monetary Cheque, I want the "Inspired & Happy People Cheque". Take note of the "smiley" as the "sign" and "INSPIRED & HAPPY PEOPLE" as the "unit".

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank my mentors, dad, authors of this blog, friends, colleagues, everyone and the universe in all the supports, in helping me to be a step closer in achieving my life crusade.

Have a inspiring and happy life ahead!

Attract What You Want

Why are some people successful and manage to attract everything they want compared to the rest? Why can’t I have my dream house, my dream car or my dream job? Why, why, oh why...

Have you ever thought like this before? If yes, then welcome to the not so happening club! There are millions of people experiences the same. Instead of using their wonderful asset called the MIND to attract what they want, we are wasting our precious energy and postponing or literally canceling the benefits of our power.

For the past week, I was having a recurrence of events, which is related to what I have read in 'The Secret', 'Law of Attraction' and almost all other self development books.

Early last week, I was parking my car in the office car park when I realized that there was this new model Camry that was being parked at my director's car spot. I was astonished as he uses an old Camry.

I saw my big boss getting down from the car. I asked him and he said he just got this car. I recall him talking about this car with passion for a few months and even well aware of the details of the car.

Today I bumped into my cousin. He just changed his car to a BMW 5 series. He has been talking about this car for quite a while. He has been having this image of getting into the car, putting on the seat belt, starting the engine…etc. He even test drove this car a few years ago although he could not afford it at that time.

Being curious, I asked him about this. He started talking about his experience with a gentleman called Francis Khoo, whom he interviewed in 1997. The gentleman told him that to be successful we will have to visualize the details.

This man pulled out images of car. ‘You need to have the clear detail of what you want, how you want it to be, how will you feel when you put on the seat belt, when you drive it…etc.’ This is exactly what “The Secret” says and I bet you it was not out in 1997!

And there is living proof now of this as his wish for BMW 5 series materialized.

If you really, really want something, don’t ever say “no”, “not”, “cannot” or “don’t”.

If you say I don’t want to be poor. The mind takes the message anyway as a negative vibe (as in “poor”). This will dilute or remove out all the positive aspects of what you need to do. It is useless to then go ahead and do something as 99% it will not turn out to be as expected.

Other than work, I always have problems in other areas like investment and business. I had not been getting good returns. I always used to feel bad about it. However, now I understand where it went wrong.

It’s always been like - I won’t fail, I won’t lose money, I won’t make mistakes…etc. Of course I will. At work till now, I have never thought I will not fail. Whenever at work, it has always been I will come out of this successfully. I am now going to use the same principle for my other areas of life and I am pretty confident I will share with you the successful results in future blog.

Say you want to be rich is not enough. You have to have a set goal - how much money do you want in your current account. Visualize the feeling of having it already. Believe you can do it and then start working on it. If possible, do a mock statement of your bank account. Look at it, visualize it to make it real.

There is a very good article which our friend YC shared with us. Its “Doing without doing”. Now it’s not that you are just sitting somewhere and not doing anything expecting a windfall!

What it says is you first have to belief. Unwavering belief of what you want, why you want to do, followed by the visualization and then lastly only followed by the action. The ‘intention’ or the ‘Why’ is the key.

In short it is “being - having and then doing”, which is similar and linked to the car incident earlier shared by my cousin.

Always remember that your mind is like a garden. Either cultivate it with good fertile soil, tend to it to be vibrant or allow it to be muddled. As we are going to live our lives anyway, why don’t we opt for this first option? You have the choice!
